# Weather Forecast MCP

Current weather + up to 7-day forecasts for **cities worldwide** (Chinese and English city names, Chinese output), with dual data sources for reliability.
- **Try it in 30 seconds**: a free public MCP endpoint is already running — just paste the URL into your MCP client (no install, no API key).
- **Or self-host**: a single Python file, stdlib HTTP + FastMCP, zero paid dependencies.

Transport: **Streamable HTTP** (MCP 2025-03-26 compatible). No authentication required.
## 🔌 Client configuration
Add this to your MCP client's `mcpServers` configuration (Claude Desktop `claude_desktop_config.json`, Cursor `mcp.json`, Cline, Cherry Studio, etc.):

> Clients that do not accept `"type": "http"` (some Cherry Studio / older
> Cline versions) accept the same entry with just `"url"`.
## 🧰 Tools

| `query_weather(city, days=3)` | `city`: Chinese or English city name, e.g. `"青岛"`, `"北京"`, `"Tokyo"`.<br>`days`: forecast days, 1–7 (default 3). | Current conditions (weather text, temperature, feels-like, humidity, wind direction/speed) + daily forecast (date, weather, high/low, precipitation probability). |
## 📡 Data sources, caching & limits
- Primary source: **[Open-Meteo](https://open-meteo.com/)** — free, **no API key, no registration**; geocoding + forecast, with Chinese-language city resolution (administrative-city ranking to avoid village name collisions).
- Automatic fallback: **[wttr.in](https://wttr.in/)** if the primary source fails.
- WMO weather codes and wind directions are translated to Chinese in the output.
- Results cached for **600 seconds**; the hosted endpoint is rate-limited to **200 requests / minute / IP**.

Then point your MCP client at `http://127.0.0.1:8004/mcp`.
No API keys or accounts are ever required.

- `rate_limit.py` — lightweight per-IP sliding-window rate-limit middleware (200 req/min default).

**工具**：
- `query_weather(city, days)`：查天气。城市名中英文均可（「青岛」「北京」「Tokyo」），`days` 为预报天数（1-7，默认 3）。
- 返回当前天气（天气状况/温度/体感温度/湿度/风向风速）+ 每日预报（日期/天气/最高最低温/降水概率）。
- 主数据源 Open-Meteo（免费无需 Key），故障自动切换 wttr.in。
**服务特性**：数据源全部为公开接口、无需注册/付费；服务端内存缓存、失败自动降级/切换备用通道；单 IP 限流 200 次/分钟。
