  "markdown": "# Never Ranked\n\nNeverRanked is a research engagement that measures what AI answer\nengines cite for a category. The output is a forensic memo plus a\nprepped punch list for the customer's team to execute against.\n\nThis repository holds the marketing site, the dashboard worker\nsource (under `dashboard/`), and the historical artifacts from\nthe company's prior product.\n\n---\n\n## What this company was, and what it is now\n\nUntil May 2026, NeverRanked sold a JavaScript snippet that was\nclaimed to drive AI citations. We ran a pre-registered kill test\nagainst our own domain. The result was zero citations. The LLM\ncrawlers do not execute JavaScript, so the snippet was structurally\ninvisible to them.\n\nWe stopped selling that product, retracted the public content that\npromoted it, and rebuilt the company around the measurement layer\nthat does work.\n\nThis repository contains both states: the current honest surfaces\n(homepage, About, ASB pitch, terms, privacy, llms.txt) and the\nhistorical artifacts (retired blog posts, retired case studies,\nretired audits, retired explainers). Anything that contradicts the\nretraction is either replaced with an honest holder or marked as\nretired in place.\n\nFor the current state of every code path, see\n`~/.claude/projects/-Users-lanceroylo-Desktop-neverranked/memory/code_rewrite_status_2026-05-21.md`\nin Lance's local Claude memory.\n\n---\n\n## What we measure now\n\nSeven AI surfaces, every day.\n\n- **Five citation-grade engines** that search the live web and\n  cite their sources: Perplexity, ChatGPT search, Gemini grounded,\n  Microsoft Copilot via Bing, Google AI Overviews.\n- **Two model-knowledge engines** that answer purely from training\n  data: Claude, Gemma.\n\nBoth layers measure different failure modes. A brand invisible in\ncitation is invisible when AI fact-checks itself. A brand invisible\nin model knowledge is invisible at the baseline, before any search\nhappens.\n\n---\n\n## What we deliver\n\nA forensic memo plus a prepped punch list. Per query, per engine,\nper competitor, per source type. Daily measurement. Monthly delta\nmemo on ongoing engagements.\n\nWe do not execute. No content writing, no website edits, no schema\ndeploys, no profile updates. The labor stays with the customer's\nteam or their agency.
